Ixil, Nicaraguan, embodying Latina passion, four generations of experience in coffee production, processing and exporting as well as education in England and the USA. Adrian, Swiss, with experience in multinational companies working in Europe, America and Asia, shaped by Swiss quality – together they are like a tasteful “cafe con leche” (coffee with milk). Enjoy!
In a culture full of coffee and color, the Matagalpan and Jinotegan region of Nicaragua is very unique. We are a land of poets, nature-lovers, and coffee enthusiasts. From the rich soil under our feet to the tops of our tables, coffee grows and has become an integral part of our family ritual of shared morning and afternoon coffee.
I am Ixil Borter Torrez, and I’m a 4th generation coffee farmer. My parents, still today, live their lives as coffee farmers. I began learning the coffee process from start to finish from my Dad, Don Victor Torrez Davila, when I was 6 years old, and I have been in the coffee business since 1998. I live in Nicaragua with my dear husband Adrian, and in 2013 we started AdIx Coffee. Adrian Borter MBA (Swiss) has worked in international companies with mandates in Europe, North and Central America and Asia for both profit and non-profit organizations. Together we have the technical, cultural, social and business skills required for an optimal and just supply chain from producer to consumer.
For Adrian and I, our kids, our extended family, and my fellow producers, coffee is more than a product we labor for: it is part of our lives, our culture, and who we are.
We are fully committed to delivering the highest quality Arabica Coffees. We have a strong commitment to social and environmental sustainability. As such, we carefully select the best cooperatives of small farmers and single origin plantations throughout Nicaragua’s finest coffee regions. Our premium beans come only from farms that meet the optimal conditions for the ethically sustainable growing of specialty coffees.
