Our Producers

Don Reynaldo Mairena is from the Aranjuez, a beautiful mountain between Matagalpa and Jinotega. His farm has the perfect climate, altitude, and rainfall to produce high quality coffees, and he builds on that foundation by constantly re-investing in his farm. We met Don Reynaldo during a community project and admire his leadership in the local coffee producing community.
Last year we had the privilege of working with Don Reynaldo on a special project: Natural Processing. The flavor, body, and fragrance of this tiny microlot amazed us and impressed coffee professionals and consumers around the world. We can hardly wait to see how the 2014-2015 crop will taste!

William Rodriguez (23), is the oldest of 6 children from La Mora, Jinotega. After the death of his father, William and his family continued to labor on their family farm, and in 2013 we spent time educating and encouraging them to focus on quality and details in their coffee processing. We were all delighted to see their crop increase about 5 points on the cupping table, a huge leap, and we reinvested some of our last year’s profit in training him. We anticipate him developing as a fearless leader and producing outstanding coffees in years to come.

Don Carlos Lanzas and his son Bladimir Lanzas manage their 17 Mz with amazing maracaturra, caturra and red catuai coffees being produced at the perfect combination of altitude (1,350 mts above sea level), volcanic soil, care, and 25 years of experience in coffee production to ensure a SCAA cupping of 86 points during the last 9 years.
These folks Carlos (left) and Victor (right) have made sure to share the love and passion for amazing coffees.
Our extensive Producer portfolio continued:
Besides the 3 producers/lots highlighted this month, our cooperative boasts 15 other multi-generational producers, each growing specialty-level coffees from typica to yellow bourbon to caturra.

Welcome to the Nicaraguan coffee world! I love being a bridge between coffee drinkers and consumers, and offer a package experience that draws on my background in a coffee-producing family and the many coffee connections I’ve made in my life to initiate visitors into my coffee world. With my husband's experience in the business world, we are excited about walking with you through the farms, talking with the farmers, and witnessing coffee production and roasting, November through February every year. Let’s get to know each other and create a custom experience for you--contact us for more information.
Quality with Excellence
We supply specialty-grade coffee only. All internationally traded coffees are cupped, or objectively graded, on a 100-point scale for various attributes like fragrance, aroma, and body. Coffees that score above an 80 are technically considered specialty-grade coffee, and only 15% of the coffee in the world receives that status.
Rarely do such high-quality coffees “just happen”: usually years of hard work at the coffee farm level are required. This is why we invest time in monitoring the process during months of seed germination as well as the picking, drying, and exporting processes. When the coffee is roasted and served, its excellence is the product of this attention to detail throughout.
In addition, we are committed to educating consumers so they can appreciate the process of excellent coffee and take pride in joining the coffee chain!
